I smell like the great pumpkin.
(please, no personal appearance references...)
I smell spicy, sweet, and a bit exotic.
Yep, I am pretty yummy.

My skin is super soft,
squeaky clean,
and nicely moisturized.

Yesterday, I smelled like a sugar cookie.
Not because I baked 12 dozen cookies.
I'm not lying.

My skin was buttery soft,
felt super clean,
and smelled like one of my favorite cookie doughs.

I don't do too many product reviews,
but once in a while you order something from
a fellow Etsian that makes your knees buckle.
The customer service makes you feel like you have known them for years,
and their product is top-notch fabulousness.
The pictures drew me in like a coffee addict to a Starbucks.
(I am not naming names here.....)

The descriptions had me drooling...
and to top it off,
there was a 40% off sale going on!

The package quickly arrived.
I opened my mailbox,
ripped open the package and nearly fainted.
I could close my eyes

I sat in my car, package in hand, sniffing each one over and over
and trying to lick the soap.

I picked up my daughter from the bowling alley,

Peaceless Poop

I'll bet that title got your attention...

it's why you're here.

If you are a mommy,
than you know that alone time is precious.
Wanna know one of my wishes for MY New Year?
This year I would like more ME time.
I'm not talking hours and hours...
Maybe just minutes.
Selfish?
I don't think so.
I am not talking about the few minutes
spent at the sewing machine
while I am in the midst of running
(more like trotting, I have VERY short stumpy legs)
from preschool to tweenschool,
wolfing down one,
two, or fourteen cups of coffee,
cramming a Nutri-grain bar in my mouth
and running back to the sewing machine
to get a couple orders out.
I am talking unadulterated, quiet time.
What is that you may ask?
I know Mamas,
it's a foreign concept to me too.
If you are a mom,

you know that quiet time consists
of hiding in the bathroom
with a chocolate bar while your mini invaders
knock incessantly on the door.
That's what I call Mommy vacation.

At least you know that they are all right
and staying out of trouble....
they are still knocking on the door.
Peaceless poop.
Then comes the horrid day
when they don't knock on the door any more.
You know in your heart of hearts that it is way too quiet,
and for goodness sake, you better hurry.
I have visions of sugary icing chocolate face,
a gallon of spilled milk all over the kitchen floor,
toddler hair cuts,
and my purse in shambles on the floor...
because they would die,
immediately, without a piece of gum.
Then there are days when they run around in circles.
I can hear their pounding feet and chirpy little voices
from my semi-potty peacefulness .
Our old, old, old, cabin is built in a circle.
It is just begging
for socks to be sliding through the kitchen,
and for the toddler, the tween, and the dog
to play "chase me! chase me!".
I imagine that children played
the same game 100 years ago in this house.
They were probably much quieter...
making sure not to fall over the butter churn
and the pot belly stove.
Old cabin Mom had to go outside to hide in the potty.
Ewwww.....and brrrrr.......
In super long skirts.
Not pretty I am sure.
Now THAT is desperate quiet time.
This year, I am determined to have
more than the few minutes
of quiet time spent on the potty,
or hiding in the shower.Between the curtain being pulled aside
because a certain adorable toddler needs a tiny barbie shoe
she swears is floating in the water,and the same toddler swearing that you put the
"frosties" on the window purely for her writing pleasure,
showers have become an olympic event.
I am lucky that my oldest child, almost 13,
is old enough to watch her little sister
for 10 minutes while I sneak a "speed shower".
THAT was quite a milestone in this Mommy's bathroom habits.
This year, my wish is for the Mommies.
I wish you a year with more peaceful poos,
uneventful warm showers
(hot may be asking too much),
and at least three minutes to wash your face,
brush your teeth,
and put a little makeup on your beautiful tired face.
After all,
we would'nt trade our bathroom invaders
for all of the chocolate in Wonka's goodie vaults.
Someday when they are all grown up
we will be longing for the days of
"Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, are you done?
Can I come in?
Do you know where my barbie shoes are?
Are you pooping?
I have to go NOW!
Can I have cookies?"
I may miss it someday.But for now,
have a beautiful New Year my friends!

Eye Candy

I swear this year has simply flown by!

I watch my babies growing up
and wonder where the time is going.
I feel so blessed in this stage of my life.
The stage where I
have accepted the fact
that I won't be having any more babies...
where my oldest child is approaching...
*gulp*
dun dun dun,
the teenage years...
where my baby will be starting Kindergarten next fall.

With this next stage has come some new
and exciting things for Half-Pint!
I have had the pleasure of working with some great ladies this year.
Adding professional pics of my designs
to my listings has kept me busy,
non-stop since August.
Uber blessed!
Uber exhausted...
balancing my family,
my home,
and business.
BUT,
I can honestly say,
I have done a pretty good job with that this Fall.
Not too shabby.

Kiss it goodbye...

Are we really ready to kiss summer goodbye?
Muwahhhhh!

My oldest little darling goes back to school in two weeks.
My youngest goes back in three.
Sixth grade and preschool.
Gulp.
Deep breath.
Now hold on to your coffee and peanut butter toast.....
I will truly miss them.
I can honestly say that this has been the very best summer.
EVAH.
Have we been to far off lands of whimsy and delight?
Only while playing "dress up" in our princess gowns and combat boots.
Have we eaten exotic foods and sampled gourmet cuisines?
Only if you call pizza with pineapple
and some strange cheap brand of chocolate milk, exotic.
It's been simply...simple.

We DID take a few days away from cabin life
to venture out to the land of craziness!
We went to.....
wait for it....
wait for it......
Sandusky, Ohio!
The hubby found an amusement park called Cedar Point.
Super fun place to be.
We had a blast!
The itty bitty and I spent the day in Kiddie world and rode tiny small rides.
In circles.
For hours.Itty bitty was ecstatic.
Mommy was sticky hot and drippy sweaty.
NOT attractive.
The hubby and our older itty bitty spent the day on the big coasters.

The ones that make me puke.
Violently.
Vomitrocious.
I will take riding in little cars in circles any day.
The question of the day?
"When are we going back to the motel to swim in the pool?"
We could have saved a whole lot of money,
stayed in boring ol' York, PA,
and just gotten a motel room.
Lesson learned.

My favorite part of the trip?
No cooking,
no cleaning,
and Daddy taking the girls to the pool to play
so Mommy could read a book.If you are a Mom with young children,
you understand the value of being able to read a book
that is'nt simply for information....
"How to" take care of poison ivy,
"how to" get chocolate milk out of silk,
"how NOT to" lose your mind when there are two whiners whining.

We ended the trip with a tiny little carousel museum and a picnic on the waterfront.
THAT is my idea of a great day.
We could even see across the water to the
vomit inducing pukie coasters
that kept us entertained the day before.
Ahhhh.....memories.
Pizza,
gastric bypass,
roller coasters.
NOT a yummy mix.

I am excited to see what this Autumn holds....
for my family, for my business, and for our band.
As corny as it sounds,
yep,
it's a wonderful life.
I intend to spend every day of this Fall in a pumpkin induced stupor.
Pumpkin bread, coffee, soap.......
I'm freaky like that.As far as the business goes,
I have so much to share with you!
That will have to wait for another day.
I am adding two Fall hats to the shop this morning!
Yes, I probably need new pics,
these are two years old,
but I can NOT part with them.My baby has grown so much in two years...
although, she still has very little hair.Thank goodness she's pretty.
I'm not saying that just because she's mine.Those lips...

Summer is upon us.

Yes, dear ones, you heard me correctly.
Summer.

Do you believe
that the last time this lazy blogger posted
was the beginning of the New Year?
Blog neglected.

Yes,
I can make plenty of excuses for the blatant disregard
of putting words to keys.
Let's have at it.
I am Mama,
wife,
business woman,
singer, .....

and the list goes on.
Enough said.

Has the panic and anxiety at the thought
of having your children home full-time set in?
The delightful thought of them
arguing over what's mine and yours
and his and the dogs?
Ugh.
Don't get me wrong.
My girls have fun together.They are 4 and almost 12.
Sometimes the mind blowing fun
turns to full fledged diva moments
and this mama's lip starts to twitch.

Chocolate and coffee....
possibly some Xanax....
are my standbys that will allow me
to sail through the summer.
Let's pray I'm not 20 pounds chunkier
due to the partaking of these on an hourly basis.We are lucky enough to live in the woods.
(It is especially beautiful in the fall
when the big yellow school bus arrives.)
Oh come on,
don't act like you don't do the
"happy first day boogie"
when that day arrives.
I am getting ahead of myself here.
Let's get back to the serious reality here.
Summer Momentertainment.
I have promised the girls some serious fun this summer.
I am a fun Mom.
Please no laughing
or choking on your own spit.
I may make muffins from a mix
and pancakes with bisquick,
but I can be amazingly fun.
I am so much fun,
that I still hug and kiss my tween goodbye
in front of her friends
while smiling at the fact that
she feels both loved and disgusted at the same time. I am THAT kind of mom.
My toddler is the fun one.
She still lets me hug and kiss her goodbye
in front of her friends without too much animosity.

As difficult as the first week is for us,
we soon fall into a routine.
Ahhh...routine.
My girls have been routine babies from the start.
THAT is when the true summer fun starts.
Trips to the farmer's market for our weekly stash of fresh fruit...
Trips to the local water ice shop to cool down...
Blenders full of smoothies...
A short but loaded July vacation....

Yes,
I do believe this mama and her itty bitties
will survive the heat,
the bugs,
and the diva moments
until the big beautiful yellow school bus arrives in the fall.

I am reminded that they are only young once,
and I am determined to make some memories
with them this summer....
and enjoy myself in the process.My two best friends will be joining me daily.
Coffee and chocolate.
They will get a girl through anything...
even the diva moments of summer.
Strap on those flip flops girls!

A New Year for Puppy

He has been smothered in maple syrup,

rubbed with cherry blossom hand cream,
dropped in mud puddles,
lost in a Virginia Hampton parking lot
only to be found by a good Samaritan
and turned in to the front desk.
He has been to Hawaii,
the Jersey shore (many times),
and Oklahoma.
He was with her for her first steps,
takes naps with her every day,
and stands by for an occasional hug when needed.
Puppy waits patiently in the car while she is at preschool.
He is the first thing that she grabs in the morning
and the last thing that she hugs at night.
To say that puppy is a member of our family is an understatement.
He is ragged and worn,
has had his tail reattached,
and gets a bath whenever he can sneak away
from her for a few minutes.He is loved.
Unconditionally.
Am I concerned she may be dragging
him off to college when she's 18?
Not at all.
Will she outgrow him?
Maybe, some day.
For now they are buddies.If only we could love as she loves him.
To be able to see beyond all appearances,
to see with our hearts the way that she does.
This world would be such a beautiful place.

Where's the hair?

I have a bald beauty.
I may be a bit partial,
but she is my gorgeous lil' girl.I look at all of the "purty" boutique hair bows and accessories...
and sigh.

She is three and half and still can't wear hair bows or flowers.
Sigh.
SO,
we buy some crochet hats,
with big beautiful flowers.
They last 10 seconds.
Sigh.
My solution?
With her semi- bald little head,
she is already wearing a fleece hat in the morning.

Good Ol' Granny Smith

During this season of Autumn fabulousness,

one of the fave flavors in our house is the glorious apple.We eat apples and peanut butter,
apple cobbler,
apple strudel,
apple sauce,
apple butter,
apple muffins,
and apples and cheese.
We eat them red and green,
gold and yellow,
and every shade in between.
Our Sunday dinner needed to be easy and fun,
due to the fact that my girls insisted that
it needed to include the Granny Smiths
that we picked up at the farmer's market a few days ago.
We are also big fans of cheese at our house,
and the apple and cheese flavors mix well.
Throw everything that you know
about grilled cheese
out the window
and embrace the ooey gooey goodness
that IS
"Granny Smith -n- Swiss"!You'll need :
1 gorgeous green tart Granny Smith Apple
(peeled, cored, and sliced thin)
4 slices of whole wheat bread (makes two sandwiches)
Butter or Olive oil
1/2 to 2/3 cup Swiss cheese
(we like ours uber cheesy)

Heat your skillet/pan/griddle to medium heat.
Lightly brush one side of each slice of bread with olive oil.
If you prefer, lightly butter them instead.
Put one slice of bread,
oil side down, on your skillet
and arrange the apples evenly on the top.
Spread half of the cheese on top of the apples
and lay the other slice of bread on top,
oil-side up.
Cook until the bread is golden brown and then flip over.
Cook until the other side is golden brown and the cheese has melted.

I know of one recipe that adds bacon bits.
How about making it as a panini?
Tomorrow's lunch for us?Trying it with cheddar cheese and red delicious apples^_^.

My Favorite Things...

I wait....
somewhat patiently...

all Summer long...
for the first day of September...

when big beautiful pumpkins will find their way to my home.You see dear friends,

Fall is my absolute,
hands down,
favorite season of the year.

Living deep in the woods
surrounded by vibrant yellows, oranges, and crimsons,
one can't help but feel full of life.

Thankfulness and peace abound
while stepping out on the front porch and breathing deeply.

Lets not kid ourselves Mamas,
another one of my favorite things to arrive in the fall?
The big yellow school bus!

This year was slightly bittersweet
as my littlest one blew kisses from her new big girl desk in preschool.
"Goodbye Mama!" she shouted with a smile
as I quietly left smiling,
choking back big huge Mama tears.
That lasted just a few minutes when I suddenly realized...
2.5 hours to myself?
Whatever will I do?
It was time to head home,
sip pumpkin coffee,
nibble on pumpkin bread fresh from the Farmer's Market,
and sew some of the new items that I have since added to the shops.

Dad's Special Day

Father's day is obviously a day to celebrate the men in our lives.
Old Dads,
New Dads,
and all of those in between.
Usually my blog is a place of girly goodness;
a place for scrumptious ruffles,
delicate stitchery,
and fabric deliciousness.
Today I ask you to join me
in celebrating the manliness that is DAD.

I was lucky enough to grow up with the most amazing Dad
that a girl could ask for.
He is kind and loving,
and always does his best to do the right thing.
He is a man whom I admire with all that I am,
whole heartedly respect,
and adore more than I can ever express in words.
He has taught me to love God,
love others-
even when it hurts,
and to never compromise my beliefs.
Daddy’s girl?
Yep, I’d say so.

In a couple weeks it will be five years
since my first husband passed away.
He was killed in a truck accident
on his way home from a fire company meeting.
After he passed away,
I wasn’t sure where my life was headed.
It had been a rough marriage
and I was ready for a new start.
I prayed for God to help me find a man like my own father;
a kind and gentle man
that would be good to me
and my five year old daughter.
He answered that prayer pretty quickly when I met Darin.
For the first time in a long time I had some serious fun -
I knew he was “the one”.We married less than a year later and came home from our honeymoon
with baby on board.He has been such a blessing to us as a husband and father.
He works hard.
He drives several hours a day
commuting to a job that he loves.
I am then able to stay home with our daughters and run a small business.I am a lucky woman to have him and his love.
Things aren’t always perfect, but darn close.
Just ask her….

I am also blessed to have four other “Dads” in my circle.
Our band,
THRU ME,
is definitely a family of sorts.
We are complete with family drama
and ups and downs,
but we have a mutual respect for each other
as people, parents, and musicians.
I am deeply thankful
that God has brought us all together
to share our faith and our gifts
that He alone has given us.
I want to wish them all a very Happy Father’s day.

Our talented drummer Brian is celebrating his first Father’s day
with the most gorgeous baby boy... ever!

Our rhythm and lead guitarist, Jim,has a breathtakingly beautiful
18 year old girlie girl who owns his heart.
He has also helped to raise two grown stepsons.
Don’t let the scary pic fool you, he’s a really nice guy.
Shhhh…….

Our lead guitarist,
Brian,has his hands full with two handsome teen and
soon to be teenage sons who are
becoming awesome musicians
with the guidance and direction of their Dad.
It is amazing to watch them grow into men.
They now tower above me.
As do most toddlers at this point.

My co-lead Kevin,my partner on the mic,
is an amazing Dad with two teenagers and a grown daughter.
He is a kind and gentle man
(with a rockin’ fantastic voice)
who works hard to be a Godly man and father.

The bass player is my handsome hubby Darin…

Summertime Mamahood

Vacations and camping,

pools and fireworks,
picnics and sweaty kids….
Summer is here!

As Mamas we are ready for summer to begin
and thankful when school starts!
I have been known to dance and sing when the school bus arrives.
Having kids off school for the summer also lets you know what you are made of.
I have an independent toddler and a pre-teen (entering 2nd toddlerhood)
who will be keeping me quite busy this summer.Before I became a Mama,
I got to sit and eat leisurely meals,
sip coffee,
and read a good book for hours if I was so inclined.
Before I became a Mama
my clothing was stain free
and I got to talk on the phone- for more than 5 minutes at time.
Before I became a Mama I got to stay up late and sleep in as late as my heart desired.
Before I became a Mama I got to take long hot showers
and spend hours getting ready to go out.
Now I am lucky enough to wear the Mama ponytail!
Before I became a Mama,
I hadn’t been
peed on,
pooped on,
spit on,
chewed on,
or had the skin under my arms pinched by little fingers.
Before I became a Mama,
I never had to hold down my little ones while the doc gave them shots to keep them well-
and cry right along with them.
I never knew what it felt like to have my heart hurt when I could’nt stop their pain.
I didn’t know what it felt like to look into little crying eyes
and feel the tears streaming down my own face.
I never knew what it felt like to see that first smile,
cheer for that first crawl,
and cry with joy at that first step.
Soon our lives will be filled with more firsts as our oldest starts 5th grade.
Boys, ugh.Before I became a Mama,
I never held a sleeping toddler for two hours
simply because I didn’t want to put her down-
I wanted to cuddle her and smell her hair, knowing she’d be up and running in minutes.
I now know love at first sight.
I now understand how someone so small can change my life in every way.
I now understand how it feels to love someone so much my heart hurts.
Before I became a Mama I didn’t know I was capable of so much
joy,
strength,
and wonderment.
Being a Mama has taught me so much about myself-
a never ending lesson in humility,
selflessness,
and heartache.
We love them with every fiber of our beings
and cry with them as we give them their wings to fly.

I plan on using this summer to help my daughters add feathers to their wings.
I keep reminding myself as stress creeps up,
my nerves fray,
and my body aches
that each day is a gift with my girls and to treat it as such.Have a wonderful summer dear friends,
I hope to have many Half-Pint adventures to share with you!

Mama Break

Life is crazy beautiful,

it really is.
I am blessed with love, family, and happiness.

HOWEVER,
there are times when it feels a bit more crazy than beautiful!

On those days,
I start the coffee IV,take a deep breath,
put in the mommy ponytail
(that's where I keep my superpowers),
and face the day with all the wildness, vigor, and caffeine I can muster.I do my best to be the most amazing juggler....
wife....mama....business woman....singer...
Sometimes one of the balls fall.
I get bonked on the head.
Hard.
I am NOT coordinated.
I have the goose egg to prove it.
I have decided to close the businesses for a month.
Why you may ask?
For a Mama break.
Things on my to-do list?
Make Spring clothes for my girls
Spring cleaning (serious yuck)
Write some music for our band, "Thru Me"
(Shameless promo pic)Read a book -beginning to end-for enjoyment
Laundry, laundry, and more laundry
Enjoy our beautiful woodlands as they bloom with delicious Spring goodness
Drink more gourmet coffee- with gourmet creamerGet rid of the pull-ups- completely
Master the toddler ballerina ballet
(I don't quite have the booty shake down yet)

But most importantly,
to start each day with prayer for direction, patience, and wisdom.

There's no shame in slowing down for a "mama break".
I need time to get back to "crazy beautiful",
instead of just crazy.
If any one should happen to have a problem with me taking that time,
I'll be handing over the juggling balls
or quickly administering the head bonk myself^_^.

Singin' and Sewin'

The fabric overfloweth.

After cleaning out my studio,

PAINFULLY
organizing hundreds of yards of fabric by color,
I came to a conclusion.
Time to destash!
A couple months ago I opened a second shop called
"Do Re Mi Fa SEW".It is full of appliques,
fabric packs, fleece packs,and smaller amounts of beautiful fabrics -
perfect for the DIY seamstress.
I just recently added some of my own original appliques.
You'll find skulls,
cupcakes, and more cupcakes.Of course I HAD to make one for my itty bitty,
my sweet little cupcake,
my little puffalump.
All I needed was my vivacious toddler,
a couple M&M's for bribing purposes,
and my camera.They will soon be available on tees with matching skirts in my clothing shop-

just in time for spring and summer.
Throw on a pair of sandals,
add a boutique hair bow,
and turn your little one loose.
I have added lots of Spring florals to my newly cleaned studio,
so keep an eye out for some yummy new

Playing with the Angels

My heart is hurting.

This precious little one has touched so many people in her short little life.
Including myself.
I am sure that she is dancing with Papa Jesus, giggling and laughing, free of pain. Her wonderful Mama and Daddy have treasured every second with their precious baby girl. They have shown us amazing faith, even when they have crumbled.

My husband and I have been following her
and reading up on the condition that took her life early this morning, neuroblastoma.
We have been reading the family blog,
and checking in with twitter several times a day to see changes in her condition.
We rejoiced at her triumphs and cried with her setbacks.We have felt as though her Mommy and Daddy
have allowed their precious baby girl to teach us,
to remind us of what is important in this life.
She has reminded us how important it is to draw strength and love from our Father God-
even when we are angry and don't understand.
Even when it just is'nt fair.

We want to thank you, Marsh family, for sharing your lives with us.
Dear family, we are praying for your strength, for your peace, and for your beautiful daughters.
May God give you peace and rest in knowing that your baby girl changed our lives, changed hearts, and changed souls forever.

Comfort Food -Potatoes and cheese style

I have always been one of those people that seek comfort and warmth in food.

Good food reminds me of family-
the warmth of being with my family as a little girl and smelling the wonderful scents coming from my grandmother's kitchen.
I am currently fighting with a bout of laryngitis-
sore throat, coughing, runny nose, and all the extras.
The thought of a warm creamy bowl of Loaded Baked Potato soup
is just what the doc ordered.I wish I could say that this soup is low calorie,
it's not.
It's not low fat, low cholesterol, or low carb.
It is rich and yummy and meant to be enjoyed-
savored under a blankie with a good book.
You'll need: 2 small cans of Chicken broth
(I use low sodium)
1 small can of cheddar cheese soup
4 cups water
2 cups milk
1 LARGE can of sliced potatoes
1 pouch of REAL bacon bits-
bacos just aren't the same (I use low-fat)
1 box instant mashed potatoes
(2 packets- experiment with different flavors-
sour cream and chives rock!)
fresh chives (optional)
1/2 bag of frozen chopped broccoli
(fresh if you are so inclined)
sour cream and cheddar cheese to top it offThis makes A LOT of soup, so start with your biggest stew pot.
Combine your chicken broth, cheddar cheese soup,
4 cups of water, and 2 cups of milk.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce to a simmer and slowly add your potato flakes.
It will act as a thickener.
Mix them in a little at a time until dissolved.
If it becomes too thick for your taste, simply add milk until you get the consistency you want.
Mix in the chopped broccoli, sliced potatoes, bacon, and chives.
Let it simmer until the smell fills up the whole house and has you slobbering in anticipation.
The longer it sits, the yummier it tastes.
Top with sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and bacon bits.
Enjoy!

An Imperfect Heart for my Funny Valentine

The snow abounds.
There is more coming, or so the weather man says.
The light of a new day is beginning to shine through the icicles hanging from our front porch.
The fire is crackling in the fire place, and my mug is full of warm coffee.
I can hear little feet rustling around and the squeak of the bedroom door. My Funny Valentine slowly makes her way down the stairs, puppy in hand, crawls up into my lap, and lays her head on my shoulder.
I kiss her head and breathe her in.
It's times like these that make me love her so much I can barely breathe.
She turns, looks into my eyes, holds my face in her pudgy little toddler hands and says, "Mommy, can I have pancakes?".
Pancakes? Little girl I would give you the world.
Pancakes are definitely something I can handle.

We venture into the kitchen and mix up a batch of the prettiest pancakes you have ever seen.

I use Bisquick- I am NOT Betty Crocker. We add a little red food coloring to make things extra magical, because only princesses can eat pink pancakes. I tell her they are her Valentine pancakes, and proceed to make them heart shaped.
Yeah, ok, more blob shaped.
The look on her face was one of awe.
They were pink.
They were semi-heart shaped.
They were made for her- with all the love I could muster.
She looks up at me with her big hazel eyes and says,
"Thanks Mama! They are the best pancakes in the world!"
First of all, she called me Mama- melts me every time.
Secondly, it made me take a step back and think for a moment.
They were the most imperfect heart pancakes ever made. Yet my baby girl knew she was loved, and that I loved making them for her.
Sometimes as parents we think that things have to be perfect. We try so hard to give them what we did'nt have, or work so many hours in a day that they don't get the best of us, they get what is left of us.

As simple as this pink breakfast seemed,
I was reminded of the importance of life's simple things.
Simple joys.
Simple Pleasures.
The importance of my time and a little effort. They are little for such a short time.

Ahh..Sweet Comfort Food

The winds are howling, the snow is passing the 24" mark, and the best place to be is home in bed with your head under the covers. You close your eyes and roll over, soaking in the delish feeling of the warm blankets, knowing that you could'nt go anywhere, even if you wanted to. The Drama Queen Diaries

"Would you PLEASE get your socks and shoes on! Would you PLEASE brush your teeth! Would you PLEASE brush your hair .....NOW!" Yes, it is the same as it was yesterday, and it will be the same tomorrow. We are running out the door to get to the bus stop 2 miles away... only to see the big yellow beast whizzing by before we get there. AAGGHH!!! My nerves are shot..yet again.
Mornings are rough. At times they drive me outright insane. But this, my dear friends is the daily struggle in the life of my child with ADHD. She forgets that we have to brush our hair every day. She can't organize her thoughts without a list. She gets overwhelmed, mouthy, and weepy. She is a handful. A beautiful, vivacious, and at times, downright difficult 10 year old with a whopping case of ADHD. Believe me, I will be hiding under the bed when the teen years come around. I am afraid, very afraid.
When I begged God for a baby, after two years of trying to get pregnant, I never imagined how wonderfully frightening, completely fulfilling, and amazingly difficult being a parent could be. When this big, pink, screaming baby was dropped in my arms, I thought, OK, what now? She continued to scream through 3 months of colic. What was I thinking? THIS is motherhood? Crazy. I must have been crazy.
That little one, who was 10 pounds and 5 ounces, now looks me in the eye, wears my clothes, and has surpassed my shoe size. That "little" girl has changed me. She has made me a woman- she has forced me to grow, as a believer, and as a mother. I watch her with her little sister. She loves her. Deeply. She adores her. I have never seen such unconditional love between sisters. It is almost as if my youngest is saying, "Yep, this is my crazy, rammy, beautiful sister, and I love her for who she is, and not what everyone thinks she should be". I need to take a lesson from that insightful toddler. My Elizabeth is my heart. Are there times when I want to pack her bags and ship her to Borneo? YES! Almost every day. Especially in the morning. On the other side of that golden coin is my 10 yr old baby girl; loving and giving, passionate and compassionate, driven and confident. When she loves you, she loves you deeply. Sometimes we need to step back and take a look at the big picture. We need to be thankful for our blessings, our trials, and for all of the things that make us who we are. Life can change on a dime. If I lost her tomorrow, would I have regrets? Yes, we all would. It is my job as her Momma to make that list of regrets as short as possible.
I spent a few days at the shore with my Grandmother for her birthday and to get a "Momma" break. I missed my girl, I truly missed her. She has the day off from school today, and I intend to have some fun with my whirlwind princess.
God, I thank you for my crazy beautiful life, with all of it's trials and tribulations, and for my children who own my heart. You are truly gracious. Help me to be a better Mama than I was yesterday, and an even better Mama tomorrow.

My addiction...

Yes, I am not ashamed to admit it...I have an addiction to luscious, beautiful, colorful fabric. It goes far beyond the edge of reason, I'm afraid. I have hundreds of yards of this delicacy, yet I always seem to need just a bit more. With a recent large order being paid for, I set out to find a new fabric store that carried all of MY favorite designers. I am a sucker for a beautiful Tina Givens creation, and just melt for Anna Maria Horner.
With my Spring designs jumping from the pages of my sketchbook, I started the web surfing- looking for the best prices for the fabric for my newest creations. Lately, I have preferred Etsy to ebay, because I can't seem to get the same customer service as I do with Etsy; however, I had the time to check it out, and started the ebay search. Lo and behold, I found an amazing store! Cotton Fabric Shop carries my favorite designers, has the best prices that I have found ANYWHERE, and has the most wonderful store owner- what a bonus! I got amazing customer service. As a business owner myself, it's the customer service that makes me return.

New Shop Contest Rules Expanded!

Half-Pint Creations is expanding! I have decided to open a new shop by the beginning of next month. My new shop is in desperate need of a name. I am holding a contest to find that new name. The shop will carry appliques, fabrics, scrap packs, hand sculpted buttons, and patterns of some of my designs.
I had originally asked for music related names for the shop. There have been a few great suggestions! I would like to open the contest rules to suggestions that are not exclusively music related. The winner receives a gift basket tailored to the ages and interests of their children. Not a Mom? Then the gift basket is a basket for you!
Keep those suggestions coming... I just love to see the creativity of my online friends! You can suggest as many names as you like.

New Year, New Shop, New Contest!

What is MY New Year's resolution? I resolve to update my dear blog more often! Half-Pint Creations has been blessed with some wonderful friends and customers this past year. Business has been good and steady, and I have decided to open a second shop filled with many items for the do-it-yourselfer. It will offer custom and ready to ship appliques, hand-sculpted buttons, fabric, scrap packs and much, much more! I will also offer some of my designs as PDF patterns as well as sewing kits including fabrics, patterns, and step by step tutorials.

Half-Pint Creations will exclusively carry children's clothing, baby items, and a new line of items for Mama too!
The new shop will open by February 1st; however, it does not have a name yet! SOOOO, I am holding a contest that will run until January 10th, to NAME THAT SHOP! The winner will receive a gift basket filled with goodies tailored to the ages and interests of their own children. If you like, you can also choose a prize basket of goodies for yourself =)
All you have to do to enter is leave your new shop name suggestions in the comment area on this blog, on my facebook fan page , or send your suggestion to halfpintboling@yahoo.com. I will then make a decision among all of the entries on the morning of January 11th and contact the winner to send them their goodies.

Autumn Splendor

Half-Pint Creations has been on vacation for the last month with a Grand reopening on September 1st. There are some new goodies and I'm bringing back some old favorites! The countdown begins.... I need goodies!

We have all seen the commercials of parents dancing through the aisles of school supplies as the countdown begins. You may not physically have done this yourself, but let's be honest, we all get a little giddy at the sight of bookbags and #2 pencils. As a work at home mom, the schedule changes drastically around our house as fall arrives. Living in a cabin in the woods affords us a front row seat to the arrival of autumn, my FAVORITE time of year. I enjoy buying all of the lovely school supplies, shopping for school clothes, and waving as the school bus pulls away. My youngest is 2.5 and will be home for a couple more years. She is growing so fast I am enjoying every moment with her. I will be a sobbing mess the day that she boards the big yellow monster and speeds away. Yes, I'm choking on the thought as I write.
Along with the start of the school year comes many, many "celebration" days. Holidays, birthdays, and lots of special "bring a yummy to school" days. When do we remember this necessity? 7 pm, the night before the goodies are to go to school. We ponder the run to the store, but feel the twinge of guilt at sending storebought mini cupcakes- again.

These cookies are AMAZING! I can speak from experience, I have made the ooey gooey chocolate chip and they went off the plate faster than you could possibly imagine. Coconut? Strawberries? Peaches?

Have you ever come upon a store owner that has gone way beyond what you would ever expect with customer service? I had the extreme pleasure of stumbling upon "Mylingy's Purrfect Candles" http://www.Mylingy.etsy.com , owned by a fellow Etsian. I had been looking for some tarts for my wax burner and found that she had hearted MY store. I always try to check out the stores of people that "heart" me, and found her store full of yummy scrumptious scents meant to tease and tantalize.

All of her candles are homemade and hand-poured. They are half soy and half paraffin, the best of both worlds. They burn cleaner because of the soy and they smell fantastic due to the paraffin. She has over 700 fragrances. How can you possibly go wrong with scents like "Blueberry Cheesecake" and "Coconut Lime"? I opened my package, which arrived pretty quickly (mine was even a custom order), and inhaled deeply. She included many extras, all packed safely with care - one scent even more enticing than the last. Pure Heaven!

I can't wait until the seasons change because I will be back to purchase some pumpkin scented candles, and yummy christmas time scents.

Bubblebums?

Ahhh.. the joys of toddlerhood. My baby is beautiful and smart, kind and compassionate, funny and intuitive. She is also fiercely independant, and even at two, thinks she knows it all. In the same breath I am frustrated by her and in awe of her. Since the beginning of this year, I have done all my photos with a black backdrop and a dressform. I feel they are sharp, colorful, and different from the masses. However, while designing my new bubble bloomers, I had an outside photo shoot in mind.

I wanted something cute and "foofie", something meant to be worn on it's own and also under dresses. The new "Bubblebum" line was created. Soon to be joined by "Rufflebums", baby bottoms will never be the same. It was only natural that my little one model these new bloomies.

Summer Celebration time!

Can you feel the warm summer sun on your face? Can you hear the cool waves splashing on the shore? Can you smell the freshly cut green grass? No matter where you are this summer, the new additions to my Half-Pint Creations Etsy Shop http://www.halfpintboling.etsy.com are meant to wrap your gorgeous little ones in summer whimsy. The fabrics are light and summery and will make folks smile at their down home, yet funky combinations.
This ruffled halter top is designed with summer past times in mind. The amazing fabric will bring back all of the wonderful memories that made summer so magical.

Beside the Seaside is a funky colorful combination of hot pink, lime polka dots, and an amazing Alexander Henry print. Full of dolphins, turtles, crabs, and lots more sea creatures, you'll be able to hear the seashore as your little one runs on by!

Super talented Jennifer Paganelli 's fabric is as bright as the summer sunshine. This print is very popular, not to mention vibrant! It just begged to be turned into a ruffled halter for a sweet lil' Half-Pint.

Lastly, I found this amazing fabric at an Amish quilting shop here in PA. I put it back several times before I decided that I liked it. The print is very retro New york. Scenes from 1940 New York make this a dress/top like no other for celebrating the 4th of July holiday.

There are many new hand sculpted buttons as well as new "Mama made It" Kits in the shop. So grab a cup of coffee (or herbal tea if that is your thing) and stop in for a browse:)

My Mother's Day Gift

This Mother's day has quite possibly been the most emotional, eventful, and blessed Mother's Day I have ever had as a mother and a daughter. Monday of this week arrived uneventfully as just another Monday -until mid morning when Mom could'nt remember a simple recipe that she has made a million times. As a cook, that was very odd. She could'nt answer basic questions -the brain and mouth just could'nt work together. An emergency trip to the family doc and then immediate ambulance ride to the hospital confirmed that Mom had had a stroke.

We were blessed to find that her limbs had not been affected, just the part of the brain for organization and memory. After a long week in the hospital, I filled Mom and Dad's freezer with food, got the house cleaned and cozy, and awaited my father bringing her home. She is now home in her own bed, with more meds than I can count, and a hovering family that just wants to wrap her in bubble wrap.

I am incredibly lucky to still have my Mom after the things her body has been thru. I am also lucky enough to call my mother my best friend. I would move mountains for that wonderful woman. After many answered prayers and happy tears, THIS, my friends, is the best Mother's day I will ever have- my Mom is here to celebrate it with me.

You never know when a stroke will affect someone you love. Here are the signs to look for:
Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
Sudden, severe headache with no known cause

If you or someone with you has one or more of these signs, don't delay! Immediately call 9-1-1 or the emergency medical services (EMS) number so an ambulance (ideally with advanced life support) can be sent for you. Also, check the time so you'll know when the first symptoms appeared. It's very important to take immediate action. If given within three hours of the start of symptoms, a clot-busting drug called tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) can reduce long-term disability for the most common type of stroke. tPA is the only FDA-approved medication for the treatment of stroke within three hours of stroke symptom onset.

Life is too precious to take for granted. If you are lucky enough to still have your Mom, give her an extra hug tomorrow. Make that weekly phone call an extra long phone call. If your Mom has passed on, close your eyes and remember all of the wonderful things she's done for you and the timeless love that you will always carry for her.

The Village Tinner

Spring is here! Many of us are doing our spring cleaning and if you are anything like myself, I also tend to redecorate. I add a few new pieces on the fireplace mantel; maybe a new set of candleholders on the dining room table, something new and different.

My mantel is full of beautiful tinware handmade by "The Village Tinner"

http://www.thevillagetinner.etsy.com/ . He is by far one of the most talented tinsmiths I have ever seen. Ok, so maybe I'm a little partial- he's also my Dad!

For more than 25 years, and as long as I can remember, tin, copper and brass have been his passion. Having a home based business for nearly that long, I remember waking up to the sounds of the hammer striking the awe and pounding our beautiful tin punch panels. My mother was usually lovingly wrapping the finished pieces at the dining room table and carefully packing them up to be dropped off at the store that would find them a new home. I was probably one of the only ten year olds that knew the difference between a brake and a shear- and could tell you all about hot dipped tinplate. Cool huh! As a teenager I took metal shop with confidence- not just to meet boys.

This particular piece will always have a special place in my heart. It is a cheesemold that can actually be used. It includes a recipe for a German Egg Cheese that resembles Cottage cheese. The cheesemold is made with lead free solder. I made one for a history project that "WOWed" the teacher. I may have had a "little" help from Dad. To this day, that teacher still has that cheesemold!

All of these pieces shown are available in three finishes, which will match anyone's decor.

-The Antique finish simulates aged tinware. It is hand rubbed to highlight the patina and coated with a metal paste wax to give the metal a soft sheen. An occasional dusting with a soft cloth is all that is needed.

-The Rust finish is actually a painting technique. Each piece is primed and painted to give the feel of real rust. It has the appearance of rust without the devastating effects. Please clean with a soft dry cloth.

-The Natural tin finish is the look of shiny tinware when new. Each item is washed and hand polished. Over the years, the tinware will develop a rich patina. Clean with a soft dry cloth.

This particular item- the perfect gift for the history buff- is a Tinder Box. Before matches were introduced in 1830, a fire would have been started with flint and steel. This unit would have contained flint, steel, charcloth, tinder(strips of cloth), a candle stub and a dome shaped extinguisher.The flint, steel, cloth, and candle stub are not included. This is a great item for living history reenactors! The "Spring Sugar" Collection

Color can inspire, calm, energize, and soothe. Jennifer Paganelli has an amazing eye for such design and color. It has been such a pleasure to work with her "Sis Boom" collection of fabrics. The vibrant colors jumped off the fabric store shelves and wanted to be made into little girl's dresses and skirts. My own daughters will be getting their Easter dresses from the same fabrics.This ruffled peasant dress is made solely from the fushia and lilac combination damask. Add tights and maryjanes or a little pair of sandals and it is complete!

My own personal favorite, this damask is a combo of pretty pinks.
It is warm and girlie- perfect the little princess who loves to bathe herself in pink!

Spring - Bold and Beautiful!

The daffodils are slowly making an appearance as the early signs of spring arrive. The bright and beautiful colors of nature invoke feelings of renewal, freshness and newness. Living in a cabin in the woods, we can hear the birds constantly chirping their sweet songs. The layer of ice has melted off of our pond and the bright orange goldfish have shown their little fishy faces to soak in the warmer water that lies at the top. My little girl is fascinated at the hundreds of baby orange swimmers - having just learned the color orange. It is these simple pleasures that make one rejoice at the sight of spring.

Along with spring's arrival are the bold and beautiful hues of the flowers. The sunshiny yellows, bold hyacinth purples, and sweet deep pinks can lift your mood and wow your senses. Inspired by these deep and richly colored flowers, I have decided to make April a month of color- bold, saturated, "make your soul smile" color.

Living in Amish Country in PA, I am lucky enough to have access to amazing fabric and quilting shops full of the boldest richest colors that just beg to be made into little girl's dresses. All of this month, additions to my store will be made with color in mind. Tomorrow I will be adding my "Raspberry Sorbet" , "Strawberry Sweet" and "Lilac Dreams" outfits. Spring Flowers....cupcake style!

As cupcake month comes to a close, I wanted to share a few more Etsy Artists' scrumptious creations as well as a recipe that will make you rush into the kitchen to start baking! These beautiful spring flowers will tempt your eyes and your taste buds. Make them with different colors for a Spring Garden Party!

You will Need:
1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
1 cup boiling water
1 pkg. (4 serving size) Strawberry Flavor Gelatin
1 (8 ounce) tub Whipped Topping, thawed
Few drops food coloring, any color
24 marshmallows
24 Miniature Marshmallows
1/4 cup colored sugar or colored sprinkles

Cooking Directions :
Prepare and bake cake mix as directed on package for 24 cupcakes; cool completely. Pierce cupcakes with wooden skewer or large fork at 1/4-inch intervals. Stir boiling water into dry gelatin mix at least 2 min. until completely dissolved. Spoon 2 tsp. of the gelatin over each cupcake. Refrigerate 3 hours.
Tint whipped topping with food coloring; spread about 2 Tbsp. of the whipped topping onto each cupcake.
Cut each large marshmallow crosswise into five pieces with clean kitchen scissors to resemble flower petals. Arrange five of the petals in flower shape on top of each cupcake; place a miniature marshmallow in center of each group of petals. Sprinkle each with 1/2 tsp. colored sugar. Store in refrigerator.

Yield: 24 servings

Simple Pleasures

As I sit here sharing lunch with my little girl I am reminded of all of the little pleasures that life has to offer. I just recently lost a friend in a car accident and attended the funeral with a heavy heart. His young widow was full of grace and poise- very hard to sustain in such a situation. She has three boys for whom she is a rock. Sitting in the church listening to his handsome , strong boys read poems and tell stories, the memories came flooding back-I was in her same situation 4 years ago. I was a young widow with a 5 yr old. I had also lost my husband in a car accident. It was almost too much to bear.
Moving on thru that time in my life and watching my friend's boys tell stories of their beloved Dad Shawn was such a strong reminder to stop and enjoy the little things that seem unimportant at the time. Rejoice in those bedtime snuggles. Let the dishes go and have tickle fights with your kids. Kiss your spouse slowly and tell them you love them- every day. For these are the things that they remember.
As a feeling of warmth and love washed over me I decided to run with it and make cupcakes- yes, you knew I'd work that theme into this post- with my two year old. Hah! What an adventure and a huge mess! But what fun we had. There was icing on her bald little head, and batter on the floor. My little love had so much fun that she needed a bath and a nice long nap. I need some coffee and a cupcake. No naps for this mama!
Need something to do with the kids this weekend? Make a memory and try these- A bit healthier , but oh so yummy!

APPLE BANANA CUPCAKES
INGREDIENTS
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2/3 cup shortening
1 1/4 cups white sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 cup ripe bananas, mashed
2 apples - peeled, cored and shredded

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F . Grease and flour 24 muffin cups, or use paper liners. Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and buttermilk. Beat in the flour mixture, mixing just until incorporated. Fold in the mashed bananas and shredded apples. Fill each muffin cup half full.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool.

I didn't have the time to make the icing too, so we drizzled cream cheese icing over the top. YUM!

Black Frosting? Ewww....

My little one recently celebrated her 2nd birthday! She is growing so fast-too fast! She had no problems tearing into her yummy gooey cupcakes. She did'nt even care that I had painstakingly decided on a princess pink icing with beautiful black music notes and guitars, wishing her a "Happy Birthday to our Rockin' baby girl. She is a music lover- it's in her blood. With Daddy being an amazing bass player and Mommy singing lead vocals in a band, big black music notes lovingly placed in the pink icing were a given. Do you have any idea what happens when you eat black icing? Yep, you guessed it, green poo. In fact, everyone that had eaten a beautiful cupcake had green poo issues. Yes, pretty disgusting, but pretty funny. The moral of this story? No matter how yummy, no matter how enticing, don't eat the black icing! You have been forewarned!

My Lil' Cupcake

One of the reasons that I enjoy designing children's clothes is making them for my own girls. My daughter is no stranger to the camera. She sees that flash and starts working that camera! This was the first time she modeled for me. At 1 year old, she kept me laughing all day long. Now 2, we have more fun than you can imagine. The camera loves her too!

Ginger can smell the cupcakes baking in the oven of our cozy little cabin. She prays that her faithful partner in crime- her very own toddler- will drop pieces of her vanilla cupcake for her to "clean up". This is the life of our golden retriever. Hugs, kisses, and crumbs. It is so exciting to be designing clothes for Spring and Summer! I can almost feel the warm sun on my face. The smell of the ocean and the sound of the waves. Then reality hits as I am putting on my little one's heavy winter jacket, hat and gloves. Don't get me wrong, the snow is a beautiful sight. The crisp air is invigorating. But, I am ready for Spring!

The days of needing toasty warm hats and gloves will be coming to an end soon. We will pack away our cozies until next year and trade them in for tees and shorts. On March 1st, my little cupcake hat (along with all of my other fleece designs)will be snuggled away for next winter. With a knack for selecting gorgeous colors and fabric combinations, the talented quilter behind Quilting Diva had designed this beautiful wall quilt for your viewing plaesure. Soul Singing??? WHAT???

Being a Mama, Wife, business woman, and many other things can be overwhelming at times. Sometimes life can throw you a curveball and you feel like falling apart. Even through all of those tough days, there is something that can help pull you out of your funk. Creating! You can pour your heart and soul into a craft, music, anything that makes your soul rejoice - you'll feel rejuvenated and refreshed. Without the freedom to create, one is left with one less outlet for frustration, sadness, reverence, and joy!

This freedom has led me to design a new line of lil' buttons that I am hoping will inspire others to create. I want them to look at these buttons and say- " AAhhhh, those buttons make me want to try making a .....". There are certain fabric designers, such as Amy Butler and Michael Miller that inspire me. One peak at their fabrics and I'm planning outfit after outfit! The problem is that there are so many things to make and so few hours in a day.

I have added several sets to my etsy store with more to follow. Thanks to my fellow Cafemoms I have more ideas than I can possibly make in a month of sculpting! I'm always open to new ideas and designs and would love to do some custom buttons just for you.

So, after the little ones are in bed tonight, grab a cup of your favorite coffee or tea and take a creative break. Do something that makes your soul sing- just for you and you alone. Happy creating!!

On occasion, I like to feature one of the wonderful talented artsits that I have had the pleasure to meet thru Cafemom Etsy Team. They are a wonderful group of Mothers and grandmothers, crafters and business women. You can find them by using the Cafemom tag when browsing etsy to find their beautiful handmade goods.
In amongst these talented women, you'll find Pocketful of Sunshine at http://www.pocketfulofsunshine.etsy.com/. A crafter in paper, color, and ink, the lovely owner, Maria, grew up eyeing the store windows and thought "I can make that!" About five years ago she did just that. After seeing the cost of wedding invitations, she took on the task of doing it herself. With an eye for detail and the urging from friends and family, she eventually decided to go into business.
Being able to stay home with her son was a catalyst in the decision, and her business has been blessed.
Part of the excitement of her business is designing new and exciting products to share with her customers. There's a buzz about her new business thank you cards (these are on my list of must haves ) which are premade as well as custom designeded with your business logo. Beautiful!

Also in the works, are some amazing all occasion "Bag of Cards". The Valentine sets are doing well, so keep an eye out for the new designs this spring!

Old favorites, New Friends

There have been so many new things in my Half-Pint Creations etsy store that it is beyond time for an update! Even with the recession, the business has been blessed. It has kept this Mama movin'! Some new items to share...

Our new "Mama Made It Kits" are for those who have a basic sewing knowledge and want to make a fun whimsical top for their own Half-pint. It includes precut fabric, tutorial, lace, elastic, and all the necessities to make a peasant top. It is available in various sizes and will continue to be available in many fabrics. Keep an eye out for all of the fun and funky spring prints and florals!

Also making their appearance are the sneaky lil' lizards from the "Lizard Luv" collection. They are infatuated with many things....chocolate, cupcakes, guitars, just to name a few. Their friends will slowly be making an appearance thoughout the season.

Have a little rocker in the family? The newest design "for the boys" (can also be made for girls) is the Half-Pint Mohawk Hat. Warm, cozy, and full of funk- this hat will get your little guy noticed!

Another newly designed toddler topper for your little one's noggin, is the "Luv Bug". This heart covered ladybug is sure to make people smile!

New Year, New Look

I'd like to start by wishing all of my friends, family, and customers the happiest of New Year's! This year promises to be one of renewal, change, and most importantly, love and family. My business has been truly blessed not only with sales, but with meeting new people and reconnecting with past friends. I have so many new ideas for the new year. Within the next week or so, there will be new hat designs which are on the sewing pile as we speak, and a new "little Man" collection. Also coming are boys and girls "I'm with the band" shirts with matching hats. They are funky and punky and so much fun!

HAWAII HOLIDAY

Enchanting blue waters, the laid back "no worries" lifestyle, and the fabulous scuba diving made our summer in Hawaii nearly heaven. We were incredibly lucky that my husband was sent to do a job for the military and we were able to "tag" along. All we really had to do was invest in the plane tickets and the room and food were paid for. Yep, a chance of a lifetime. While there, I mapped out every fabric store within a 5 mile radius that I could walk to. Yes, I will walk the distance for my addiction to fabric. I found some of the most gorgeous fabrics I have seen in my life!

On the way, there was a beautiful little girl and her daddy selling coconuts by the road. He chopped the top off, and stuck a straw in. My little one drank the entire thing! Who needs a sippy cup!

This picture was taken the day that we decided to hire the motel sitter for the girls (we did it just once for 20$ an hour!). We rented a Harley with a couple of the other guys that were there working also and toured the island of Oahu. You have'nt seen Oahu until you've seen it from the back of a bike! Absolutely glorious.

My sewing machine made the trip with me in my suitcase. I could'nt even think of going the whole summer without having it with me! I have a few of the creations in my Etsy store available for sale, and the others were made for the large order I sent out a couple weeks ago. I still have several yards of my snowflake fabric, it just has'nt decided what it "wants to be" yet. I loved the Hawaiian snowflake print so much that I

bought it in every color of the rainbow. There is a very slim chance that we will get to go back with him again, and next time I am taking two suitcases. At 3$ a yard, I better start saving now!

And now back to the reality of the frozen lake outside my window, although it is still very beautiful. It is our day to get a Christmas tree. The beauty of the lights, the wreath on the door, and my little ones in their gloves and hats- Hawaii is beautiful to visit, but I'll keep my little cabin in the woods anyday. Don't Eat Yellow Snow!

Sculpting has been a love of mine for a while now, and coming up with tiny new creations is a ton of fun. My ornaments are on sale in my etsy store right now- buy 5 and the sixth is free, so I thought I'd introduce a few of my snow friends before they melt away. As always, personalization is always free, and custom orders are always welcome!

Since I have battled weight all my life, this little green guy is near and dear to my heart. He is by far, my favorite "snowchubby"!

One of my best sellers at shows, this little guy is a great ornament as a baby's first. Comes in pink, blue, and green with room for baby's name and birthdate. One of my fave's!

Last but certainly not least is my sweet little working snowman- or in our case working snowoman. This design is three years old, and I still get a kick out of it!

GREEN JEANS AND MUFFINS

I am SSSOOO excited to be putting this "Green Jeans" coat in my etsy store! It started with some butcher paper and measuring devices, some seam fitting and LOTS of ruffle gathering, and HERE IT IS! I have designed a collarless fleece lined jacket with skulls, ruffles, lace, yards of snuggle!!

My daughters love wearing hoodies, but feel like mummies when they have a heavy warm jacket, hooded, or collared jacket. I have included a scarf and a muffin hat to top off the set. The flower pin can be worn on the lapel or the hat. I am almost done a cupcake coat with hot pink and chocolate fleece, cupcake hat, and pink crocheted lace.

I am taking orders for them in all sizes and colors- giving customers the choice of fabrics and trims. These are so much fun to make!

They all include a muffin hat, scarf, and flower pin. So keep peeking in to Half-Pint Creations to see the fun and funky designs being added.

Half-Pint Creations Blog Open for Business!!

Hello! Blogging is an all new adventure for me, so you'll have to bear with me. It is a way to share new designs that I am excited about, recipes, patterns, and anything that is on my mind. Business has been picking up and I have been introduced to some new and amazing artisans thru my etsy store. I will be featuring some of them that I come across from time to time, I already have a few in mind.
This little angel is my baby girl- she is a wonderful patient model for my crazy creations! I am convinced that by the time she is a teenager, she will resent me for these pictures. I can hear her now.."MOM, how could you!!" For now she looks way too adorable. I try to make sure I have business cards with me because she is my best advertising. I am still designing a pointsettia hat that should be for sale this week in my etsy store. It will join my other christmas hats- the elf, the gingerbread muffin, the cupcake, and a few others.
